Started to draw up my label for the pomade. Looking into a labeling website or somewhere where I can go to make stickers for my tins. POPS POMADE. I chose to name my pomade after my grandpa because he has had a big influence on my life. Being that I call him pop, it only made sense to call it pops pomade.

I'm going to start the process of making my own pomade. I will label my tins and eventually start selling them. My plans for this will go even farther then my masterpiece. I hope to open and get my own barber shop started with the income from the pomade. Here is a video on the process i will be taking to make the pomade. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KomkPwNIAvI

I chose laghnston Hughes for my modernist author, and I can imagine him as a human being. I can imagine him going home, kicking off his shoes and sitting down to write. I think he'd want to be remembered by his writing.

"Utopias seem to be much more achievable than we formerly believed them to be. Now we find ourselves presented with another alarming question: how do we prevent utopias from coming into existence? …Utopias are possible. Life tends towards the formation of utopias. Perhaps a new century will begin, a century in which intellectuals and the privileged will dream of ways to eliminate utopias and return to a non-utopic society less “perfect” and more free.”

I would try to take over the world by spreading the Christian religion. Social media and electronics are taking over the world on their own. I think if everyone had god in their lives things might be a little better as far as society goes. There would be more peace and happiness. Somi think I would take over the world by spreading the word of god.

I didn't have any more room in my note book. So im going to put my journal for today on my blog.

I know when someone's lying because they won't make I  contact. They will look everywhere else but into your eyes. Also if they take a while to say something and they say they're "thinking" its usually crap and they're making it up. When someone stutters it may also lead me to the feeling that its a lie.

16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
                                            -john 3:16
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
                                 -Isaiah 41:10

it feels as if theres a thousand pounds on my chest. i pray to the lord, the only one who can lift this fear off of me. but first i must let it go, and give it to him. for the lord knows what is best for me.
MOM: "i got a call from your guidence tech today. she said your not doing your work and your going to delta starting monday"
ME: " what? That's not true you saw my progress report I am doing my work. "
MOM: " well I don't know who to believe anymore. You tell me one thing and they tell me another. If you don't catch up on credits then you have no choice and your going to delta."
ME: " NO! I'm not going. Why did you sign the papers for me to go anyways? Why did you say yes?
MOM: " I didn't say yes. Your teachers said all your worried about is your hair and your girlfriend."
ME: " what? No. I've been working so hard and you know it. They just judge me because of the way I look."
MOM: " well prove them wrong son ! Show them you can do it."

The Reason of the argument was a misunderstanding between my teacher and my mom. People judge me because of the way i look and i take that to heart.
As I walk my walk with god, I realize how much the world could suffer with out him. So many deaths take place in today's society, and many of them are tragic. With gods love and strength I live on. If only the rest of the world knew god like I do.  To even know god is such an amazing experience. I trust in the lord and thank him for giving up his only sons life so that we can live in peace and freedom. As I walk my walk with god I realize how blessed I am.

Jiro is a one of a kind man because he dedicates his whole life to his passion, making sushi. He shows a great work ethic, and by it he inspires many people. One of those people being myself. Seeing Jiro work very hard at something he loves has inspired me greatly. I think we can all learn from Jiro. I've learned that if you want something you have to work for it, it will never handed to you. If your passionate about something then working hard for it, shouldn't be hard at all.

I think that you should love what you do for a living, and it should make you happy. If you do not love your job then it may be difficult to work hard at it. Jiro has taught me that there is always room for improvement. My perspective of that was, if your good at something then become great at it. There should always be room for improvement.

For me my passions are playing guitar and cutting hair. As much as I love playing guitar, everyone always tells me that being a barber is more realistic. Yet I always find myself stuck in my room playing riffs on my on my guitar. Since I was twelve I've always worked hard to make myself a better guitar player. Now I'm in two solid bands, and its all because of my dedication and hard work. In the end your hard work does always pay off and if you love what your working for, then the reward is so much greater.

Jiro has inspired me greatly to follow my dreams. Fully dedicating your life to your work might sound crazy, but not if your work is your life. in ten years i plan being able to call myself a rock-in barber. Being a musician and a barber would be awesome. only because i would love my work, would that be a dream come true.

To me , Jiro is an inspiration to my life. seeing how much he cares about his work, has made me believe that anything can be done. whatever you wish to be it is not impossible if you work hard enough. this is what Jiro has taught me.

my passion for music is something that will live on through me till i die. never have i given up on music and i never will. the crying and weeping notes i play on my guitar symbolize what i have gone through in my short life. many think of music as a hobby, i think of it as being a part of my soul.

The trade of barbering is something that will never die
The way you feel when your in the hands of a true barber is one like no other
The smell of talc powder and bay-rum after shave lingers through the shop
The buzz of clippers are some what soothing to your ears
Men wait for months just to go and get a traditional shave a cut
The barber shop is a mans home away from home
The barbershop is my home

-Isaiah B

  • The Weary Blues

By Langston Hughes 1902–1967 Langston Hughes
    Droning a drowsy syncopated tune,
Rocking back and forth to a mellow croon,
          I heard a Negro play.
Down on Lenox Avenue the other night
By the pale dull pallor of an old gas light
          He did a lazy sway. . . .
          He did a lazy sway. . . .
To the tune o’ those Weary Blues.
With his ebony hands on each ivory key
He made that poor piano moan with melody.
          O Blues!
Swaying to and fro on his rickety stool
He played that sad raggy tune like a musical fool.
          Sweet Blues!
Coming from a black man’s soul.
          O Blues!
In a deep song voice with a melancholy tone
I heard that Negro sing, that old piano moan—
“Ain’t got nobody in all this world,
Ain’t got nobody but ma self.
I’s gwine to quit ma frownin’
And put ma troubles on the shelf.”

Thump, thump, thump, went his foot on the floor.
He played a few chords then he sang some more—
          “I got the Weary Blues
          And I can’t be satisfied.
          Got the Weary Blues
          And can’t be satisfied—
          I ain’t happy no mo’
And I wish that I had died.”
And far into the night he crooned that tune.
The stars went out and so did the moon.
The singer stopped playing and went to bed
While the Weary Blues echoed through his head.
He slept like a rock or a man that’s dead.
